Postdoctoral Position at NCAN

Posted: October 2023

As a part of our ongoing R&D on sensorimotor neurorehabilitation, NCAN is seeking a postdoctoral fellow, available to join in Jan 2024, with interest in assessment of neural correlates of sensory-motor function in people with and without CNS injuries (such as stroke, spinal cord injury, or amputation). This research is based on non-invasive electroencephalography (EEG) and electromyography (EMG), along with robotic devices.

The ideal candidate would have: a PhD in a field related to sensory-motor neuroengineering; at least one year of postdoctoral experience working with neural signals (invasive or non-invasive EEG) synchronized with robotic devices for sensory-motor research in humans; experience in mechatronics and neural signal processing; and knowledge/experience in programming software and hardware of robotic devices to configure experiment paradigms, synchronize setups with the neural data-acquisition hardware and software, acquire multichannel biosignal data, and analyze multivariate kinematic and neural data.

Preferred experience includes: knowledge of data communication and electronics; programming experience with model-design tools such as Simulink and Speedgoat for rapid control prototyping and hardware-in-the-loop testing; experience with signal-analysis toolboxes such as EEGLAB or Fieldtrip; and EEG data-acquisition platforms such as BCI2000 and programming languages such as C++/Visual basic. Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for advanced multichannel EEG signal processing, visualization, statistics, and data organization is a must.

The position will be for one year, with the possibility of extending to second year if funding permits.

Please send a Biosketch, a statement of your short- and long-term research goals, and two recommendation contacts to Dr. Disha Gupta at gupta@neurotechcenter.org with the subject line: “Postdoctoral Fellow Position 2024: SEP Lab.”
