My primary research goals are directed toward understanding the large-scale electrophysiological mechanisms in the nervous system that govern human behavior and cognition. The long-term goal of my research is to develop this understanding into devices that interact with these signals and thereby realize entirely new diagnostic or treatment options for people affected by nervous system injury or disease. To pursue this goal, my research spans the entire range from basic research, technology development, and translational research to clinical dissemination.
