My current research focuses on electrical stimulation of the cortex and analysis of evoked cortical activity measured with high-resolution electrocorticography (ECoG), where electrode arrays are surgically implanted on the surface of the brain. A core objective of this effort is to develop cortical electrophysiological techniques to improve our understanding of the processes underlying normal and abnormal brain function. Specifically, I am investigating the relationship between anatomical and functional connectivity and the mechanisms that dynamically modulate cortical activity. In addition to scientific investigations of brain function, these methods present translational opportunities in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders.
